Ingredients

3 cups White Lilly all-purpose flour

1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

9 tablespoons unsalted butter cold and cut into pieces

1 1/4 cup buttermilk cold

Directions

Preheat oven to 450 degrees (F). In a large bowl whisk the flour, baking powder and salt together. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add  milk, all at once, and mix with a rubber spatula just until combined. Lightly knead the dough in the bowl 3 times. Transfer to a lightly floured surface Cover the dough with waxed paper and roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 3 inch rounds with a biscuit cutter dipped in flour (Do not twist cutter as you cut…just straight down, then up). Place the rounds on a baking sheet. Re-roll the scraps once and discard any remaining scraps. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and serve.
